In recent years The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Libraries has partnered with various library entities in the U. S. Virgin Islands and the United States to pursue several projects. Funding for the projects was provided by The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Virgin Islands Library Association and the Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums (DLAM) have been supporting partners in the initiatives that included awards for training and digitization. The University of Pittsburgh's School of Information Sciences was the most recent partner on a grant to give Virgin Islands residents the opportunity to attain the Master of Library & Information Science degree through Pitt's FastTrack MLIS program. The awards have been a
vital source for continuing professional development, support for improved
sharing and preservation of the selected information resources identified
for the project and addressing the projected shortfall of trained librarians in the territory. Further information on the projects can be obtained from the following links: |
